Waracle further strengthens engineering leadership, welcoming Sam Dods as Head of Engineering

Waracle is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Dods as Head of Engineering. Sam joins the team this week to add depth to our engineering leadership in the UK as we continue to scale, and to help shape how we build digital products for our clients in financial services, health, energy and the public sector.

Sam’s arrival comes at a significant moment for the business. With the recent acquisition of Edinburgh-based data and cloud consultancy Inov8, following the acquisition of HackSoft in Sofia, Waracle is now home to more than 300 people across five offices in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Sofia. 

As we work towards our 2028 vision of 500 people delivering digital products trusted by millions, the quality and scalability of our engineering practice is a strategic priority.

Sam is an experienced engineering leader with a reputation for simplifying complex technical challenges to deliver impactful, multi-million-pound digital products. He joins us from Valtech, where he most recently headed up European mobile engineering, combining focused practice leadership with hands-on architecture across mobile app development, web, backend and cloud projects, and core banking systems.

He brings a proven track record of building high-performing, regional engineering teams, and defining long-term technical strategies.

As part of our engineering leadership team led by Ewan Nicolson, Director of Engineering, Data & AI, Sam will work closely with Lachlann Rattray to champion transparency and continuously raise the bar for technical excellence. 

Our growth over the past two years has been rapid, through new clients, new colleagues and two acquisitions. Sam’s extensive experience will help us keep craft standards exceptionally high whilst the business expands.
