The UK has a working-age cohort (16-64) of 36M. The Pensions commission suggested that in 2026, 15M UK citizens are under-saving for retirement, which could grow to 19M without action.
Mylo are resolutely focused on trying to impact later life saving by nudging customers to think about and engage with their retirement fund. Waracle suggested creating a simple, web-based tool that generates a personalised "postcard from the future."
The idea being, to get people to engage with the size of their pension pot, by illustrating the type of holiday a user might afford in retirement, based on their current financial habits.

The team aimed to create a seamless user experience and a visually stunning output, which was simple, intuitive, on-brand, engaging, and high-quality.
The key technical task was to evaluate and select the best third-party image generation API (e.g. Midjourney, DALL-E etc.) for this specific use case, focused on image quality, realism, and API stability. The team went with Google's Nano Banana model, as it provided the most accurate and high quality imagery.
The technical "plumbing" for this project was minimal during the build. With the focus being on managing the API calls and handling the timing of the image generation, which can be slow in certain instances. Prior to launching, we made the tool burst-scalable and reached the peak traffic we expected. The infrastructure was lightweight, and the data handling process was stateless, to ensure that no user data or photos will be stored.

Nearly a quarter of a million emails were sent to customers with an open rate of 43%.
From those that received the communication, there was a 3.1% click-through rate, resulting in 2,737 postcards being generated and enjoyed in the first 6 weeks post-launch.
Postcards from Tomorrow, continues to be used post initial campaign, which shows the
enduring appeal of novel and interesting user experiences for pensions customers.
The digital project was received well and talked about in industry media being picked up and written about by Money Marketing, Workplace Journal, Corporate Advisor, Financial
Promoter, Headline Money and many more.
