If you look back in the Waracle timeline, apart from seeing young, fresh-faced mobile app developers sporting the indie-inspired haircuts of the mid 2000s, you’ll see a gamut of public sector work across public bodies, health, utilities and travel.
Our work spans web, mobile, data integrations and more, in a space that aims to create tangible value for citizens, as the ‘customers’ of central and local government, and public organisations.
As part of David Tuck’s vision for the future of Waracle, we have been redoubling our focus on the Public Sector, and creating the foundations for future success. Given this strategic focus, we thought we’d update you on everything we’ve achieved in the last six months.
Buckle up!
—
We have not, and will never, subscribe to the idea that you can ‘fake it until you make it’! We’ve built our reputation on serious tenure and industry credibility, backed up with the integrity that comes from collaborating across organisations, for multiple decades.
That’s why we brought in Jamie Murray (no, not that Jamie Murray) and Jen Syrkiewicz in summer last year.
Jamie joined us after four successful years heading up the Public Sector function at Kin+Carta, which from a standing start in 2021 ended up representing over 20% of UK revenue by the time Valtech acquired the digital transformation consultancy, in 2024.
Jamie understands the Public Sector and its needs better than most, having lived and breathed the UK vertical; understanding the intricacies of discovery, delivery and transformation across government and public organisations alike.
Alongside Jamie, Jen joined our team to increase the ‘J’ focused naming convention of our public sector team 😉 … and to head up our newly formed bid function.
Having been in the world of bid writing for 17 years, Jen knows exactly how to translate our experience, expertise and tenure into value for public sector organisations. Jen is an insightful disseminator, careful curator and copywriter extraordinaire. And we are lucky to have her!
This investment came from Adam Grant-Jones – Waracle’s Chief Growth Officer, who said:
“Jamie and Jen are two heavyweights when it comes to working alongside civil servants in the public sector. They are passionate about tech for good, citizen support and the accessibility and viability of digital products for the public sector, it was a no brainer to bring them in.”

Throughout the year to date, we have been quietly, but in a focused manner, positioning Waracle as a familiar, safe and secure pair of hands for government digital delivery.
The evidence of this focused investment now sits on the certificate wall:
We have also redoubled our efforts around accessibility and disability confidence to show just how serious we are about working on the kind of transformational digital service delivery that the public sector needs, leaving no citizen underserved.
For years, our people have earned their stripes working in the highly regulated space of financial services, energy, and health sectors.
We have operated in environments where “move fast and break things” is not a motto that will ever be adopted (in fact in most cases – that would be considered a potential criminal offence).
The regulatory rigour required to service top-tier banks, insurers and clinical specialists has given us a distinct physiological tolerance for legislative compliance. We understand that in highly-regulated industries, security isn’t a feature; it’s the oxygen of the organisation.
It turns out, if you can (at scale) navigate the labyrinthine compliance structures of financial services and the pharmaceutical industry, you are remarkably well-equipped to handle the digital transformation needs of Central Government.
As Adam Grant Jones, states:

Adam Grant-Jones
Chief Growth Officer
Our most recent public sector win was in November on Glasgow City Council’s Digital Advisory Services Framework, where we’ve been selected to provide expertise on digital projects, programs and service design to help the council achieve its digital goals!
So you’ll be seeing more of our Public Sector work gracing these blog pages in the near future.

What we aimed to do in H2 2025 was create the foundations for future success and that is exactly what we have done.
