This is a Hybrid role working from our Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, or London offices.

Key aspects of the role include

  • Design & Delivery: Designing and delivering end-to-end backend features and subsystems with a focus on C# and .NET.
  • Performance & Resilience: Optimising service performance, scalability, and resilience , and optimising application performance (e.g., query tuning, caching, threading, memory).
  • Quality & Security: Guiding the testing strategy across unit, integration, and service-level tests and delivering and maintaining robust application security.
  • Collaboration: Leading the delivery of features or workstreams and helping to define requirements with clients.
  • Team Development: Conducting peer reviews , mentoring others across the practice , and summarising discussions into clear actions for the team.

What you'll bring

  • Core Backend Expertise: Proven proficiency in C# and the .NET framework (or .NET Core) in a commercial environment.
  • System Design: Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable and resilient backend systems.
  • Senior Capacity: Demonstrable experience in a senior capacity, including leading workstreams and driving technical direction.
  • Database & Performance: Demonstrable experience with database technologies and optimising application performance (e.g., query tuning, caching).
  • Communication & Leadership: The ability to confidently present demos to clients and stakeholders, and explain technical trade-offs in plain language.
  • Modern Practices: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Collaboration: Excellent organisational, presentation, and communication skills , with the ability to engage with and connect to a wide variety of personality types
