Chris Martin, formerly of GFI Software has today been announced as the new Waracle CEO.
Chris, who has over 20 years experience in many aspects of software & technology brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and connections to Waracle. Chris takes over from Michael Romilly today (2nd December) and will be responsible for accelerating Waracle’s growth and consolidating Waracle’s position as one of the UK’s premier suppliers of mobile software, services and marketing.
Announcing the appointment today, Michael said “We’re delighted and privileged to have Chris on-board as our new CEO, Chris has occupied Chairman role for a couple of years and we’ve done really well during that time with Waracle becoming one of the UK’s key suppliers of mobile software. That said, we’re keen to accelerate our growth further as more and more businesses ramp up their mobile efforts. Chris coming in will enable me to focus all of my energies on marketing, which I really enjoy.”
Chris started life working for Dundee based NCR in 1993 and stayed with company for over 6 years. He started as a software developer, moved to network management and eventually consulting. Since NCR, Chris has founded and exited several software companies, amongst these, Chris co-founded HoundDog Technology, acquired by GFI software in 2009, where Chris continued his involvement until last week. Chris said of his new role, “I’m really excited to be working with Waracle – we’ve been successful in taking our services to some of the UK’s biggest and most well-known businesses, but, in reality, these are probably the early-adopters. Increasingly, software will be developed ‘mobile-first’ in future and we’ve got a 8 year track record in doing that and importantly, how to monetise that investment”
